Ceramics
I work intuitively, exploiting the characteristics of the clay through a variety of methods, from throwing and altering to handbuilding, slip casting and press-moulding, often in combination. My primary interests are form, contrast and texture. Each piece is a response to an idea and tends to evolve naturally during the making process, utilising a variety of surface decorating techniques, such as texturing and stamping, and often with applied elements such as lugs, handles, feet and lids, as seem appropriate to the form.
I particularly love the process of Raku, with all the elements of surprise and spontanaity that it involves. Aside from the beautiful copper lustres and crackle whites of Raku, I prefer to keep surfaces unglazed, using texture and oxides or slips and burnishing as decoration.

I am presently unable to take commissions for ceramics.
